Care instructions

Where a piece has its own care instruction, it is under Care Instructions on its product page, and it comes first. These are the general rules.

Silk — soft, heavy, Kanjivaram, Banarasi and khadi silk

Dry clean only. Store folded in muslin, away from direct light.

Mul mul cotton and cotton

Gentle cold hand wash, separately for the first few washes. Dry in shade.

Linen

Cold hand wash or a gentle machine cycle. Creasing is characteristic of the fabric.

Georgette

Dry clean recommended. Do not wring.

Zari

Never iron directly over zari work. Fold the piece with the zari inward and refold along different lines every few months so the metal does not crack along a permanent crease.
